Guelph University Prof questions decision to rush vaccines to treat COVID-19 virus

The vaccines were rushed into use in less than a year while still in Phase 3 clinical trials and without peer-reviewed findings. —

“Prior to this pandemic, vaccines took about 10 years to traverse the clinical trial pipeline and receive regulatory approval. The previous record was an “astounding 4 years.” COVID-19 vaccines reached the public rollout phase in less than one year (but by “cutting corners”) This means we are lacking information about COVID-19 vaccines that was always available for previous vaccines. There is a lack of peer-reviewed data (much of which won’t be released for about 2 years. Further, the nature of SARS2-CoV-2 and perplexing decisions during the rollout are raising additional questions. COVID-19 have raised hopes that the pandemic is nearing an end. Hopefully, this is true. But here are some potential stick points…”Dr. Byram Bridle, Associate Professor of Viral Immunology, University of Guelph

Below is my repost of 14 slides that Dr. Bridle used in his ZOOM presentation to a COVID-19 Science and Policy Symposium Webinar, the video of which was posted on You Tube on February 14, 2021.

The 14 slides provide the textual notes Bridle used in his answers to questions he was asked most often, presumably by those attending the webinar. Each slide includes a heading. And I have added for each heading an approximate time-marker on the video, which allows visitors to quickly go to the location on the video of a topic of interest to them.

The time index to the headings is also provided here

1:31 — Bridle’s Opening Remarks
4:22 — Preamble
7:47 — COVID-19 Vaccines: How do They Work?
13:56 — COVID-19 Vaccine Development: A Record-Shatter
18:25 — Preamble (repeat)
18:39 — What is the long-term safety of COVID-19 vaccine?
24:24 — Is there an example of a long-term consequence of a vaccine?
25:53 — What is the “duration of immunity” of COVID-19 vaccine?
28:08 — Are COVID-19 vaccines as effective as we have been told?
30:55 — FDA Briefing Document : Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine
32:10 — Are COVID-19 vaccines as effective as we have been told?
33:46 — What are the risks of using COVID-19 vaccines in ways for which they were NOT approved?
38:11 (Repeat of previous) / Case Series Drug Analysis Print : COVID-19 mRNA Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine analysis print
40:40 What is the risk of emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants that can evade vaccine-induced immunity?
48:25 Can “herd immunity” still be achieved if any of these problems do result in failure of the vaccine rollout?

Below is my embedded 72-minute video of Dr. Bridle’s presentation and follow-up Q&A, followed by my repost of Bridle’s slides, and including the approximate time-marker the heading appears on the video.

Answers to Outstanding Questions about COVID-19 Vaccines Will Dictate the Success or Failure of the Rollout, by Dr. Byram Bridle, Associate Professor of Viral Immunology, University of Guelph, COVID-19 Science and Policy Symposium Webinar / You Tube, (72 minutes)

BRIDLE’s SLIDES ACCOMPANYING HIS TALK

1:31 Bridle’s Opening Remarks

Bridle will give presentation for first few slides as a question and answer. Has a handful of the questions asked most often. Will take any other questions as the end of the talk. Spent his career developing vaccines for cancers. He has a COVID-19 development program going on, that realistically wouldn’t be able to go into human clinical trials for at least another year and a half, maybe two years to deal with future outbreaks of novel coronaviruses. That’s not a question of will that happen but when.
